PNG BLUE GREEN INITIATIVE AT A GLANCE
A Distinct Identity
PNG BLUE GREEN INITIATIVE knows that our strength lies not only in the words we stand by, but most importantly through the actions of our initiatives. As a newly established Environmental NGO we understand that by working together we could overcome our challenges much more efficiently, and that is what PNG BLUE GREEN INITIATIVE stands for.
WHAT WE DO
Here’s What We Provide
PNG BLUE GREEN INITIATIVE will set up its first ever coral restoration program in Rigo District Central Province. Because we are newly established there will be challenges ahead, PNG is no easy place to set up marine conservation initiatives but with the help of communities we can achieve our conservation goals. Read on to learn more about what we can do to protect our land and sea recources.
RESTORE CORAL REEFS - PAPUA NEW GUINEA
Coral reefs may succumb to different environmental and anthropogenic pressures over time that they are damaged, polluted and even completely destroyed, which is why it is important to rebuild and help such ecosystems replenish themselves by replanting corals in their natural environments and also create nurseries to increase biodiversity of coral reefs.

EDUCATING & UNDERSTANDING LOCAL KNOWLEDGE
We want all village locals to gain knowledge on how they can protect their marine environments when working with PNG BLUE GREEN INITIATIVE in restoring coral reefs. On the other hand we are open to learning from local fisherman and traditional knowledge on how they protect their oceans. To us understanding scientific and traditional knowledge can enhance better conservation methods.

SETTING UP LOCALLY MANAGED MARINE AREAS
Assist local villagers to set up protected areas to regenerate fish populations overtime and give space for coral nurseries to grow well. Encourage Locals to participate in maintaining healthy fishing and sustainable methods of fishing.
